A special song
told from the perspective of a young child, written to promote awareness
of the benefits of therapeutic riding programs.
There are many therapeutic riding
schools around the U.S., two of which are named "Angels on Horseback", one
in Exeter RI, and one in Jasper, Georgia.

When Mama tucks me into bed each night
She tells me I'm her little angel, born without the gift of flight.
I've heard some grown-ups say that life won't be a breeze,
But Mama whispers words of faith each night when we're both down on our knees.
Then she tells me fancy stories about castles in the sky
And horses that can fly
In my dreams, I'm ridin' high.
I'm an angel on horseback with invisible wings
And we fly off together like a kite without strings.
In my world of dreams
Life is so much more than it seems,
And I'm an angel.
Today I learned there's some things grown-ups can't explain.
When I made a brand-new friend who's got a tail and a mane.
Then Mama lifts me up, says I'm going for a ride.
I feel the gentle strength of love and I can do things I've never tried.
It's like I'm in those fancy stories about castles in the sky
Where the horses, they can fly.
