Subject: [harry-chapin] Congratulations to Bill & Kay Pere, Scott
Sivakoff, and LUNCH!!!
I just returned from an amazing concert in Hartford, CT, featuring
Bill and Kay Pere, Scott Sivakoff, and the "LUNCH" (Local United
Network to Combat Hunger) bunch of kids and their "Tribute to Harry
Chapin" concert.
It was a great show...lots of Chapin classics including "Sounds Like America
to Me," "Remember When the Music," "Taxi," "Shooting
Star," "Dreams Go By," "W*O*L*D," "A Better Place to Be," "Danceband
on the Titanic," "The Rock," and several others.
I especially liked Bill's rendition of "Taxi," including a great
falsetto bridge, as well as Scott's performance of "Cat's in the
Cradle." Scott had the entire audience singing along and he really
did a nice job.
The "Circle" finale was very moving, as the kids performed the chorus
to the song in several languages including Spanish, French, Latin,
Hebrew, sign language, etc.
Bill and his wife Kay also performed some of their own great songs. And Bill
presented WHY with a check for $1,000.
For years, LUNCH has been doing amazing work, not only by raising
thousands of dollars to help fight local, national, and international
hunger, but also by engaging young people in the cause through the
music. In doing so, Bill has created ripples that will impact
generations to follow in his footsteps.
Big cheers to all involved for a great show!!!
Best,
Mike Grayeb
